We are committed to advancing the repatriation of Ocean Ranger artifacts, many of which are currently held outside Newfoundland and Labrador, ensuring they are returned to the province where they belong. These materials hold deep historical and emotional significance for families, communities, and the province.
Through collaboration with partners and the government, we are working to safely transfer, preserve, and care for these artifacts. Each item represents an important part of the story and contributes to a deeper understanding of the events and their impact.
By bringing these artifacts home, we create opportunities for meaningful remembrance, public reflection, and education, ensuring this history remains accessible and respected for future generations.
To learn more about this process, be sure to watch the following episode of CBC’s Land & Sea that discusses the topic of repatriating the artifacts that are currently held in Ottawa.
We are working toward the development of a permanent public exhibit that will serve as both a memorial and an educational resource. This space will honour those lost while supporting ongoing awareness and learning.
Our vision includes a world class exhibit designed in collaboration with partners, families, and the community. It will provide an engaging and informative experience that reflects the significance of the Ocean Ranger.
As we move forward, we continue to explore opportunities for growth, partnerships, and long term sustainability, ensuring our work evolves while staying grounded in remembrance, education, and offshore safety awareness.
If you have a photo or story to share, we welcome your contribution. Your memories help preserve the legacy of those lost and ensure their stories continue to be remembered with dignity and respect.
